These commandments...are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Deuteronomy 5:6-7

CHILDREN'S WORSHIP

During May in Children’s Worship, the children  learned about the beginnings of the Christian church.  After his resurrection, Jesus stayed around for forty days before he ascended to heaven.  He made many appearances and visits to over 500 of his followers.  After Jesus died and was alive again his followers dedicated their lives to getting the message about Jesus out to everyone they could reach.  Some of those stories are recorded in the Book of Acts.  During May the lessons and activities in Children’s Worship will be based on four of those stories: Philip and the Ethiopian, The Conversion of Paul, Peter and Cornelius, and Peter’s Escape from Prison

These stories about Christians long ago contain important lessons for us today.  They are examples of God working through ordinary people to do extraordinary things.  They teach lessons of accepting people who are different from us.  They help to instill a sense of self worth and deal with having a sense of belonging.  They teach us that we can rely on God to look out for us and care for us in all circumstances.

Best of all, they teach the heart and not just the head.  They teach the heart because faith comes from hearing God’s Word.  Certainly, we hear, learn and interpret the words and stories from the Bible.  Then the Holy Spirit works miracles in us by building up our faith and keeping us connected to Jesus.  That power working in our lives, and the lives of our children, is what prepares us all to face any challenge in life.  What a tremendous gift God offers us whenever and wherever his Word is prepared and shared.  It is a unique gift offered each week in our Sunday worship experience and in Children’s Worship.  Let’s keep coming together, and bringing our children, to encourage and build each other up.

CROSSROADS EARLY LEARNING CENTER

As the weather is getting warmer, the children are spending more time outside, learning social skills, communication skills, and getting science and geography lessons within the community.  Stop by the back hallway and walk into the “Rain Forest”.  This is an annual project by the Kindergarten class.

Pastor Smith is continuing with the weekly Chapel time.  The children now know most of the songs and sing them with vigor.  And, everyone looks forward to Pastor’s messages about God’s love for us and they finish Chapel time with a hearty “amen.”

All of the classes will be getting ready for their ending ceremony in June.  Trips have been planned for the children and everyone is looking forward to summer.

Please call Vivian or Melina at the Day Care office at 251-3221 for more information.
